The main difference between going to your medical provider vs a naturopath is the focus is on restoring your health with rather than diagnosing disease. Of course identifying and diagnosing disease is important in medicine, also important is understanding your personal disease process, underlying imbalances such as your microbiome health, nutrient, and hormonal imbalances. Naturopathy considers the best nutritional plan for you and how foods can help you heal, in addition to vitamins, herbs and homeopathy. Ultimately in my practice what is most important is developing a naturopathic tool-kit which helps you on your path to optimal wellness. Naturopathy is a personalized and holistic approach and also can help you address stress, and emotional imbalances. When you give attention to these therapeutic interventions generally you are helping your body’s innate drive towards homeostasis.
Naturopaths have been in existence for over 200 years.
The naturopathic case review explores your health history and health story of you living in your own body. While many naturopaths include functional tests like micronutrient, hormones, microbiome/ecology, and amino acids, organic acids, food allergy testing and mold toxicity, etc., the truth is we also have been practicing for the majority of the past 200 years using nature’s medicines to heal; food, herbs, homeopathy and nutrition, before these functional tests. This is where I start. I do employ these tests, but they are all not to be used by everyone. In my practice I am focused on what you can do at every meeting to take steps towards optimal health, energy and well-being. Healing is an art that requires ongoing adjustments to a customized plan. The healthier you become the less support you need. And most importantly the less disease-care management you will need.
The reason I have room in my practice for new clients is that, in general, most of my clients heal and address the issues they came to see me about. If anything there might remain annual visits for preventing disease. Or coming back for other issues in the future. The clients that succeed recognize the value in my guidance the time it takes for healing, and usually chose to participate in my naturopathic programs.
